Portland, Oregon's THE VILLAGE GREEN look to be one of those groups with little interest in living in the limelight. Naming themselves after the famous KINKS' album is about as far as they seem willing to go when it comes to engaging in hey-look-at-me! self-promotion.Well, more power to them. Musical collaborators J. NICHOLAS ALLARD and JEREMY SHERRER have a pretty nice thing going right now with their BEATLES-, SUPERGRASS-, and -- yes -- Kinks-influenced tunes. But, some advice: If they're truly determined to remain under the radar, they'd best start trafficking in crappier fare.
